Install and theme

How do I install TreStack Timer?

Install it from its Shopify App Store listing, apps.shopify.com/trestack-timer, then turn on the app embed in the theme editor. The app shows whether the embed is on and gives you a link that opens the right place in the theme editor.

Do I need to edit theme code or paste a snippet?

No. No theme files are edited, and the app never asks you to paste code into your theme. Timers render through the app embed, and through an app block when you want a custom position.

How do I put a timer in a specific spot?

Choose the custom position option in the timer's targeting, then use the Add app block link in the app. It opens the theme editor so you can place the block where you want it.

Will it slow down my store?

The storefront code is one script bundle, 11.4 KB gzipped as measured on 2026-09-26. Web fonts load only the characters the timer's own text uses.

We measured one setup on 2026-09-25: Lighthouse mobile, a product page on Shopify's Horizon theme with a top bar and a product timer using a background image and a web font, the median of five runs with the app and five without. The performance score showed no measurable drop, layout shift was the same, and the product image stayed the largest paint. That is one measurement on one theme, not a guarantee for every store.

What is left behind if I uninstall?

Nothing in your theme. Uninstalling removes the app embed and the app blocks with it, because nothing was written into your theme files.

Timers and behaviour

Which timer types are there?

Product page timers, below the Add to cart button or anywhere through an app block, and a top or bottom bar across the store are on the Free plan. Landing page timers, at the top of collection pages or on the password page, need Starter. Cart timers, on the cart page and in the theme's cart drawer, and email timers need Growth.

What kinds of countdown can I run?

A fixed end date, entered in your shop's timezone. A per visitor countdown of a set number of minutes, which starts when each visitor first sees it and carries on across page loads in that visitor's browser.

On Starter and above, recurring daily or weekly windows in your shop's timezone, which may cross midnight, and a scheduled start for a timer that should appear later.

What happens when a timer reaches zero?

You choose: hide it, restart it (for a per visitor countdown), show a message you write, or leave it at zero. Restarting is never the default: a deadline that starts over should only be used when the offer really renews. An ended timer set to hide is unpublished automatically within a minute, without you opening the app.

How does the cart timer work?

It shows on the cart page and in your theme's cart drawer, only while the cart holds products from your store. It always counts per visitor, and you can set it to remove your products from the cart when it runs out. Products that other stores sell through yours are left alone.

Can I show a timer to some visitors and not others?

Yes. Product timers can target all products with exclusions, chosen products, or products in chosen collections. A bar can show on every page with exclusions by page type, URL fragment, or path keyword, or only on the home page, product pages, or collection pages. Landing timers can target all collection pages, chosen collections, or the password page.

On Growth, you can also target product tags and show a timer only to visitors in chosen countries. The country comes from Shopify.

Can the timer text be translated?

Yes, on Growth. You write the timer text per store language. Shoppers see their language, and the store's language when there is no translation for theirs.

How do email timers work?

After you publish an email timer, the app gives you an HTML image snippet to paste into Shopify Email, Klaviyo, or any email tool that accepts HTML. Each open renders 60 one second frames that play once, and opening the email again shows the time left at that moment.

Deleting an email timer breaks the image in emails already sent. The app warns you before you delete it.

Does the editor preview match my storefront?

Yes. The live preview uses the same rendering code as the storefront, so what you see while editing is what shoppers get.

What numbers can I see for each timer?

Impressions, clicks, click through rate, dismissals when a shopper closes a bar, and completions when a timer reaches zero, filtered by the date range you pick.

Can it run A/B tests or a checkout timer?

Not today. The app does not run A/B tests, timers based on inventory or discounts, several product timers on one page, or a timer inside checkout.

Plans and billing

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan covers product page timers and a top or bottom bar, with 1,000 timer views a month, at no charge.

How are views counted?

A view is one timer seen by one visitor in a browser session. Views are counted per store, per calendar month, across all of your timers together. Reloads and other pages do not count again, so a shopper browsing five product pages under the same bar counts one view for the bar. A visitor who comes back in a new session counts again.

What happens when I reach my monthly views?

At 80 percent the app shows a warning. At 100 percent your timers stop showing on your storefront until the 1st of next month in your store timezone, or until you upgrade. They stay published, so nothing needs setting up again, and they come back by themselves. Until then you cannot publish new timers or edit published ones. Email timers are not affected, because opening an email does not count as a view.

Professional has no monthly view limit.

Can I try a paid feature before paying for it?

Every plan can create and edit every timer type. The plan only matters when you publish, so you can build a cart or email timer on Free and upgrade when you are ready to put it live.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, 7 days, on your store's first paid subscription.

Is yearly billing cheaper?

Yes, 20 percent off. Growth, for example, is $7.49 a month billed monthly, or the equivalent of $5.99 a month billed yearly.

How am I billed?

By Shopify, on the Shopify invoice you already get. Prices are in US dollars. There is no separate card on file with us.

What happens if I downgrade?

Before anything changes, the app lists the timers the lower plan does not cover. Those timers are unpublished when the downgrade goes through.

Are development stores charged?

No. Shopify Partner development stores are billed in test mode, so they are never charged.

Data and privacy

What can the app access in my store?

Four Shopify permissions: read products, to pick products and collections; read themes, to check that the app embed is on; write files, to upload timer background images to your store's Files; and read locales, to know your store's languages for translations. It has no access to orders, customers, or payments.

Does the app store anything about my shoppers?

Nothing on our servers, and no cookies. In the shopper's own browser, local storage keeps when a per visitor countdown started and whether they closed a bar, and session storage stops one visit counting a timer's view or completion more than once.

The storefront sends a count event with the timer id and the event type, and no shopper identifier. The IP address is used only to rate limit those requests and is not stored with the counts.

Read the privacy policy
How does country targeting know where a visitor is?

The country comes from Shopify, not from an IP lookup service of ours.

Do email timers track who opened the email?

No. The email client requests the image when the email is opened. The image address holds only the timer id, with no cookies and no per recipient identifier, and the image is cached per minute.

What do you keep about my store, and for how long?

Your shop domain, name, contact email, timezone, plan and subscription records, your timers' settings, records of uploaded images (the files themselves live in your own Shopify Files), and daily counts per timer of views, clicks, closes, and completions. Counts are kept for 400 days. Deleted timers are purged after 30 days.

The full list, in the privacy policy
What happens to my data after I uninstall?

After an uninstall, Shopify sends a request to delete the store's data, and on that request the app deletes all of your store's data.

Support

How do I get help?

Email [email protected], or use the live chat inside the app admin. Both are answered by the people who build the app.

Support
Is the live chat shown on my storefront?

No. The chat, run by Chaport, appears only inside the app admin. Chaport receives your shop's name, myshopify domain, and plan, plus whatever you write in the chat.

Where can I read setup guides?

Setup guides live in the docs.

Data and privacy

Nothing about your shoppers is stored on our servers

The privacy policy lists every piece of store data the app keeps, how long it is kept, and the one sub-processor it uses. The data processing agreement covers the same ground in contract form.
